摘要

Safety experts urged all those working in the construction industry in Hong Kong to plan their approach to health and safety, or risk seeing an increase in accidents and fatalities. Members of IOSH were speaking ahead of Construction Safety Week in Hong Kong, which ran from 27 to 31 May. Dr Sammy Wan, immediate-past chair of IOSH Hong Kong Branch, said: "Something has to be done when it comes to construction safety. It's just unacceptable that the number of construction accidents in 2012 actually increased to 3160, from 2755 in 2009, and the industry claimed 24 innocent lives last year, which is the highest in the past seven years. Employers have a moral and legal duty to ensure workers are fully protected on construction sites.
