OZONE CONTENT OVER THE TERRITORY OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION IN THE THIRD QUARTER OF 2005

The observational data from the UkrNIGMI station are used in this review instead of those from the Kiev network station for compiling the maps on total ozone (TO). The stations are spaced by 30 km. The quality of data from stations of Tsymlyansk, Feodosiya, Lvov, Ashkhabad, Krasnovodsk, Vladivostok, Khanty-Mansisk, Kotelnyi, and Guriev in the third quarter of 2005 does not allow us to use them to analyze the ozone fields. Mean TO values for the third quarter of 2005 over the territory under control were generally close to the long-term means for 1974-1984 (Fig. 1a), although at a number of stations the deviations were above the anomaly threshold, i.e., 2.5 SD. At Omsk and Krasnoyarsk stations, the deficit of quarterly mean TO was above the anomaly threshold and amounted to 7 and 8%, or 3.2 and 4 SD, respectively. Throughout the quarter, both stations mainly recorded the lowered daily TO values. Abnormally low daily TO values were observed in Krasnoyarsk for seven days in July.
