A method is proposed for calculating seasonal atmospheric climate persistence as a measure of changing intensity of the ocean-atmosphere interaction in different years. A joint analysis is performed on the world ocean surface temperature, global air temperature over continents, and seasonal atmospheric persistence index for the last more than 100 years. A decisive role of the ocean temperature in climate changes before the 1970s, weakening intensity of the atmosphere-ocean interaction in recent decades, and, against this background, a more obvious manifestation of the greenhouse gas effect in the intensive warming of the global climate of the last decades are demonstrated. Before the 1970s, the greenhouse gas effect was mostly accumulated by the ocean, and after the weakened atmosphere-ocean interaction, the greenhouse gas effect led to the record global temperatures. The accumulating properties of the ocean are assumed to be huge, and the further climate fate is related both to anthropogenic factors and to changing intensity of the ocean-atmosphere interaction.
