In the development and operation of electroslag crucible smelting equipment, is is important to determine the conditions optimizing the electrical technology and minimizing the energy consumption. This entails analysis of the interaction of the furnace, as a receiver and converter of electrical energy, with the power source and current leads. The solution is usually obtained on the basis of control characteristics reflecting the influence of control perturbations (electrode motion and change in the supply potential) on the furnace conditions.
