An overview of PIARC studies on financing road system investments

La question du financement de la construction et de l'entretien des routes figurait à l'agenda de l'AIPCR dès 1913, à l'occasion du 3e Congrès mondial de la Route à Londres. En 1971, lors du 14e Congrès mondial de la Route à Prague, l'AIPCR a décidé de créer un Comité économique et financier en charge des : 1. études préalables au choix des investissements routiers, 2. calculs de rentabilité appliqués aux choix des investissements routiers, 3. méthodes de financement des investissements routiers, 4. prévisions de trafic à l'échelle nationale.%The issue of the financing of construction and maintenance of roads was on the PIARC agenda as early as 1913, on the occasion of the 3rd World Road Congress in London. In 1971, at the 14th World Road Congress held in Prague, PIARC decided to create a Committee on Economics and Finance with the following areas of study: 1. "preliminary studies in the choice of road investment projects, 2. economic analysis in the choice of road investment projects, 3. methods for financing road investment projects, 4. traffic forecasting at the national level".
