Rarely in the long history of construction has an equipment category gone from a small niche player to a dominant force - in only a few short years. As recently as the late 1990s, rubber-track loaders were considered by most onlookers as a nice small market within compact equipment, but certainly no threat to other equipment, such as skid steers or mini excavators. There were a few crying in the wilderness that the category would be huge, but most considered it hyperbole.
