Most of the UK's logistics operations use subcontractors to one degree or another, but Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has thought the puzzle through, and has put all its freight business in the hands of trusted haulier partners. "We don't own a vehicle or employ a driver," says Andy Connor with relish.He clearly doesn't see the need to. All the activity is managed by a select group of sub-contractors with whom a relationship has been built up over time. The make-up of the distribution fleet which moves Hellmann's freight is of little concern to Hellmann because it knows that it complies with all the necessary ISO standards.
