Work to replace the old Humber Bridge tolling booths with an electronic tagging system should bring benefits to hauliers across the UK. The multi-million pound Humber toll project began in July last year and will see the number of booths on each side of the bridge cut from six to three. The new arrangement will also incorporate free-flowing lanes, meaning for the first time that traffic will no longer have to stop at a booth to pay the tolls. Instead, those who sign up for a Humber Bridge account will receive a TAG which, placed on the windscreen, will automatically deduct the bridge toll.
