The UK haulage industry is held back by chronically low wages, according to the recently-published RHA Pay Survey 2013. The survey, which will be produced annually, confirmed that at the lower end of the pay spectrum, many Category C workers' hourly earnings barely exceed minimum wage. Over the past five years, wages have only increased by around 8%. Management pay is also below the national average, with average general manager pay not crossing the £40,000 threshold.
