With everybody staring at President Barack Obama's $556 billion figure for the next long-term transportation bill, Brian Deery and the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) were looking at a much closer number. During the waking hours of Feb. 19, the House of Representatives passed its continuing resolution to keep federal agencies running through FY 2011. The bill included $61 billion in cuts, but transportation was left out of the line of fire—for the time being.
