Featureless pavement

Every week, researchers at the National Center for Asphalt Technology at Auburn University take progress pictures of the sections that make up the test track. To the right are sections N1, N2, N5 and W7A/W7B. The pictures were taken in mid-January. The N1 section is a Cracking Group Control Mix that contains 20% RAP. Section N2 is a low-density (over-compacted) CG15 version of the control mix in Nl. Section N5 is a low-binder, high-density (under-compacted) CG15 version of N1. Sections W7A and W7B form one of the Preservation Group sections at the test track. A is a sandstone/ bauxite blend and B is the sandstone only. Both mixes are intended to evaluate high-friction microsurfaces.
