The article reports on the significance of real-time smoothness (RTS) measurements to improve smoothness of the roads and bridges. Topics discussed include the Second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP2) of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in the U.S., and reduction in the risk of making adjustments to the paving process through RTS system.
