This year's RIBA International Conference, running from 24-26 October in Barcelona, will tackle the theme of architectural identity. It will include contributions from David Chipperfield, Foreign Office Architects, Joseph Rykwert and Ken Yeang. The theme of identity will allow conference delegates to consider the ways in which architecture can both enhance and detract from the qualities which make particular places special and unique. Speakers will explore the idea that increasing environmental concerns might lead to a return to the vernacular, while questioning whether globalised architecture can be truly sustainable. Tickets for the conference cost ￡449 plus VAT. Architectural students and architects aged 30 and under can apply for one of 50 bursaries which will reduce the cost to ￡99 plus VAT.
