In 1961 the Parker Morris space standards were introduced; so years ago the average household in Britain looked very different. The average house in the UK cost less than ￡3,000; audio cassettes and computer games would make an appearance in 1962; and BBC 2 would be the first TV channel to broadcast in colour in 1967. Our possessions have changed with technology, so that televisions, computers, dishwashers and microwaves are all much more common.
