Perched on a hill in north east China water cascades over the edge of a huge open-air infinity pool on the top of Cascade Castle. This 6000m~2 granite fortress will literally be the high point of the area's resort development - although Coffey Architects was initially asked just to design a restaurant. From the old military hospital -now hotels and apartments -visitors will be able to ride up to the castle by cable car, through the orchards that supply much of China with apples.
