Everyone agrees that we need less regulation and a simpler framework to do business. The problem is that an atmosphere of change is unsettling, and the industry is still fragile. A framework with checks and balances is important right across the built environment. Regulation provides limits, generates a level playing field and ensures that performance, where critical, is defined and hopefully delivered. The RIBA is engaged at nearly all levels and subjects across the regulations world and is campaigning for logic, clarity and certainty.
