Global Climate Change And Human Health

The year 2007 marks the end of the debate about the reality of global warming. The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) (jointly with Albert Gore, Jr.) was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize "for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change." Most of the dire warnings about climate change have focused on costs from damage to ecosystems, loss of habitat, and damage to property from freak weather patterns; fires, storms, floods and so on, but not much attention has been given to the effect on the long-term health of populations.
