The antimicrobial properties of natural luffa sponge were tested by flask shaking method, and test results showed: luffa sponge fiber didn't have antimicrobial effects to fungi including Trichophyton rubrum and Candida albicans, and bacterial referring to Staphylococcus aureus. In order to endow the luffa sponge with antifungal properties, antifungal finishing on luffa sponge fibers were conducted, and the performance of the treated fibers were measured. As shown in the results, fibers treated by organic antifungal agent showed that the resistance to Trichophyton rubrum was 92.46% and 88.55% to Candida albicans after finishing.
