Liquid and bar soaps are not included but dual-function body washes are considered. The market was valued at f233 mn in 1997, an increase of 25 per cent on 1993. Sales of body washes were worth an additional f35 mn. Bath liquids accounted for 58 per cent of market value in 1997 but their share fell Over the review period. Shower preparations have constituted the fastest- Growing sector, recording value growth of 37 per cent over the review period, Against 20 per cent for bath liquids. Sales of bath salts are in decline.
