Lessons learned form multi-stakeholder dialogues

Product stewardship dialogues offer a unique opportunity for developing product policy in the U.S. that is less contentious and creates more robust environmental improvements than many other options. To date, initial product stewardship dialogues have occurred for carpet and electronics, and on-going dialogues related to beverage containers and paint continue. However, in order for product stewardship dialogues to flourish, a more realistic understanding of the requirements for such projects, both in the dialogue management and for the stakeholders themselves, must be recognized.
