Verizon halts white pages delivery in California

In California, Verizon will stop automatically delivering printed residential white pages. The discontinuation is expected to keep nearly 2,000 tons of paper out of the California waste stream every year. If consumers still want a copy of the directory, they can still order a free print or CD-ROM version of the white pages. However, the yellow pages - which contain business, government and other information - will continue to be delivered.
