Both screened aged and fresh fines are a valuable and marketable organics product suitable for a wide variety of horticultural and agricultural applications. By simply screening the fines from the original feedstock, a 50-75 percent utilization rate can be achieved. Utilizing the Doppstadt 720 Trommel and Attached Wind Sifter, the county was able to successfully use 100 percent of the aged and fresh clean fines and 37 percent of the fresh overs. In sum, the county recycled 74 percent of the total processed yard debris throughout the duration of this project. The successful results of this project have provided the county with useful information for future compost and/or mulch processing operations.
