In currrent prnctice a telescope drive bracket is riveted to the upper jacket 10 transmit motion from the telescope actuator to the upper jacket, which results in telescope function. During a crash, the upper jacket shears the rivets conneeting the telescope drive bracket. and begins the crash stroke motion while pulling the Energy absorption (E/A) strap in its stroke.
