The present disclosure regards a rotary cutting tool for sharp cutting of laminated materials. In particular, the rotary cutting tool is adapted for cutting paperboards coated with plastic films (such as the multilayer materials used in the food packaging industry). When such paperboards coated with plastic films are cut, the plastic film may leave fringes around the cut edge, especially if the knives are not sharp enough. These fringes usually include polymers or strings of material and constitute an undesired defect. In one example of realization, the object rotary cutting tool is adapted for realizing holes such as pre-cut holes to be laminated and adapted to receive an opening device, or to constitute straw-holes. Preferably, such holes have a diameter up to 25 mm in the former case and about 8 mm in the latter case. The object rotary cutting tool includes an upper knife and a lower knife, as schematically illustrated below.
