Method and System for Proactive Driver Wellness Condition Recognition and Response

A method and a system are proposed for detecting drivers' fatigued states, warning drivers of their wellness level before and during their trip and providing mitigation strategy for each driver in real-time according to his/her wellness score. Driver's slate is determined using cloud computing and inductive inferencing to estimate a driver's fatigue level based on multimodal historical and real-time biometric and existing vehicle sensor data. A gamified. visual wellness score is computed and displayed to the driver real-time throughout their drive. The wellness score is rendered using visual and audio cues. A visual representation can be shown and not limited to mobile and vehicle displays. When fatigue of the driver is detected, the driver is alerted. The method of alert depends on the wellness slate and active and/or passive mitigation strategics are recommended using a recommendation engine. To improve the driver's alertness, tactical recommendations are made to improve the driver's score. Examples include, but are not limited to, rest stop, rolling down windows, infotainment levels, altering climate, phone a friend/OnStar operator, breathing/relaxation techniques. The system adapts to a driver's preferences by learning from driver information and feedback as well as contextual information that classifies the vehicle's environment. Vehicle alerts will also signal low wellness scores such as seat haptics, chimes, pop-up notification on vehicle displays. Data sampling rate is adjusted in real-time according to the wellness score.
