FINRAY type door seal for passenger and freight doors of aircraft Aerospace vehicle design and manufacture Reinforced Elastomer door and panels seals commonly used in aerospace vehicles are prone to uneven deformation when compressed betweer a movable door or panel and a corresponding aperture. Such uneven deformation may lead to an incomplete seal, leading to liquid leakage past the seal that is contrary to the design intent of using a seal. In cases where the seals are used to maintain a pressurised environment on one side of the seal (for example a passenger door or cargo door in an aircraft fuselage), such leakage may lead to increased aircraft drag, and fuselage pressure losses and associated additional load being required on the aircraft pressurisation and heating systems. In addition, leakage past such a seal may also lead to cyclical seal deformation as fluid passes it. This cycling may lead to unwanted noise if it occurs at a sufficient frequency and also may reduce the seal service life, requiring earlier than envisaged part replacement. This would increase the costs of operating such aircraft, which is undesirable.
