The present invention provides a method to diagnose a fuel injector (1 ) solenoid valve (2) malfunction. In such kind of devices, the fuel flow through the injector is enabled energizing, with electrical current (3), a solenoid control valve (2). The end of injection phase corresponds to the end of energizing phase plus a delay due to return stroke of the valve plunger and the return stroke of the injector needle.
