EGAT MAKES GREEN PLAY

The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat) is to spend THB22 billion (US$644 million) on 258 MW of renewable capacity.rnThe plan will focus on four technology types -170 MW of mini-hydro, 15 MW of waste-to-energy, 65 MW of wind and 8 MW of solar.rnThrough to 2012, in the first of three phases, it plans 102 MW, of which 20.5 MW will be from wind and 3 MW from solar as well as six mini-hydro plants, combined capacity of 78.7 MW. The cost of this phase is THB7.4 billion ($216 million).
