Principle Power Inc. has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Energias de Portugal (EDP) for the phased development of a deep-water offshore wind power project sited of the coast of Portugal, using so-called 'WindFloat' technology.WindFloat, originally developed by Marine Innovation and Technology and owned by Principle Power, is a patent-pending floating foundation for offshore wind turbines. The technology, which the company says dampens wave and turbine induced motion, could allow wind turbines to be sited in areas previously considered inaccessible - in water depth exceeding 50 metres and stronger wind conditions.
