Prioritizing and quantifying the risk of outstanding corrective actions

This paper presents methods for assessing the risk of outstanding corrective actions, and describes how the methods were applied at a nuclear power station. The methods are motivated by a current industry focus on risk--informed operation and a current NRC focus on risk- informed regulation. Application of the methods provides' (l ) a risk--informed basis for establishing schedules and allocating resources to implement corrective actions; (2) a risk-informed basis for justifying continued operation until corrective actions are implemented.
