Regional economics has seen a change in perspective in the last few decades. Many thought it had demised with the failure of Fordism and the resultant incessant criticism of radical and humanistic geographers in the 1970s and 1980s because development and underdeve-lopment were so endemic to capitalism. In reality, regional economics has not only remained alive, but also become increasingly popular in recent times for as long as economic growth will be unbalanced.
