Thailand satellite operator Thaicom has become the first provider in the Asia-Pacific region to introduce commercial inflight broadband connectivity services using Ku-band, following a deal with Nok Air. From August, Nok Air will begin offering broadband Wi-Fi on many of its aircraft, ranging from internet access to other complimentary services in the future. The Thaicom service, which will be delivered in partnership with Global Eagle Entertainment company Row 44, will be implemented as a value-added service for Nok Air passengers, giving them access to broadband combined with video content.
