ARJ21 certified by CAAC

The ARJ21-700 - the first Chinese regional jet, developed by Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) - has received its type certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). The programme began in 2002 and AVIC I - in charge of development at that time -selected General Electric's CF34-10A engine to power the aircraft in the same year. The aircraft made its maiden flight in November 2008 and has now completed all the required certification test programmes. The CF34-10A was certified by the US FAA in July 2010. COMAC has announced 278 orders for the ARJ21 so far.
