AirAsia Indonesia flight goes down in Java Sea

On 28 december last year, an AirAsia Indonesia A320 (flight QZ8501) crashed en route from Surabaya to Singapore. There were no survivors from the 155 passengers (138 adults, 16 children and one infant), two pilots and five cabin crew. The captain had a total of 6,100 flying hours, while the first officer had 2,275 flying hours. AirAsia Group reported that the aircraft was on its submitted flight plan route, but was requesting deviation due to approaching weather conditions before communication with the aircraft was lost, while it was still under the control of Indonesian Air Traffic Control.
