StoryCorps: The Conversations of a Lifetime

Established in 2003, StoryCorps is a national oral history project of Sound Portraits Productions, a nonprofit production company founded by David Isay. It is designed to encourage people to share their stories by making broadcast-quality digital recordings accessible. The project's partners are National Public Radio, the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress, the National September 11 Memorial and Museum at the World Trade Center, and the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Major funding is provided by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.rnStoryCorps' interviewees are from all walks of life. They share their personal experiences on a variety of topics such as World War II, Hurricane Katrina, and immigration.
