Literary Afterlife: The Posthumous Continuations of 325 Authors' Fictional Characters

Bernard A. Drew, journalist and author of a variety of reference books on genre fiction, film and American literature, examines in this work the phenomenon of authors writing new works using others' characters. Drew has identified 325 authors whose characters have lived on after them via sequels, pastiches, posthumous collaborations and other vehicles. For example, Drew includes series that have continued to be written by others but published under the author's name after his or her death, along with books written by various writers about characters made famous by someone else.
