Outside, the rain was persistent and heavy and the vending coffee barely drinkable as our enthusiastic group of modellers once again sought sanctuary within the cafe's walls. Huddled around a table that sported a communal bowl of potato chips we were discussing our various modelling and flying projects when my current scratch build, the Bristol Freighter, became the main topic of conversation. Knowing that my preference was usually for glow engines, and not realising that all along I'd intended the Freighter to have twin electric power, a question drifted in my direction across a haze of salt and vinegar, "What engines are you going to use?" Not thinking as I savoured the ketchup of a freshly-dunked chip I replied, "Electric engines." Suddenly there was a stunned silence... even the weather seemed to pause in disgust. Nobody spoke.
