Some years ago - well, 41 actually - Ron Moulton asked me what the French was for a cow-pat. He was tickled that the French word sounded almost exactly like 'booze', probably confirming his doubts about the sanity of my compatriots. This was at the World Scale Championships held in my home town of Toulouse in '72; we were looking (he was frowning) at the model of a between-wars Amiot bomber produced by a member of the French team. It was quite large, chocolate brown all over with lots of appendages sticking out in all directions.
