In a world full of good trainer aircraft, it's hard to set yourself apart from the rest when designing and manufacturing a new trainer. Certain guidelines have to be met in order to achieve the goals of a trainer; it must be good looking; it must be easy to build; it must be fast from box to air; and it must fly well. In the case of this review, all of these guidelines and more have been met in a totally ready to fly model, the Multiplex Magister electric RTF. The Magister has the looks of a civilian light aircraft with a high mounted wing and cabin fuselage. The design is modern and clean, yet the model is constructed of tough Elapor foam, which is similar to the almost indestructible EPP foam. However, Elapor is molded to shape, rather than hot wire cut, providing a more pleasing shape with no finishing required. The wing is in two-pieces for easy transportation, it is reinforced to resist flexing, and includes ailerons for roll control. This is a complete package for the newcomer to learn with, right down to electric battery and charger.
