Brodie engineering wins Class 318 overhaul deal

BRODIE ENGINEERING has been awarded a multimillion-pound contract by leasing company Eversholt Rail to overhaul ScotRail's fleet of 21 Class 318 EMUs. This includes the safety-critical overhaul of various components, including traction equipment, doors and heating and ventilation systems, as well as a refreshing of the exteriors. The work is due to start in November, following on from a similar project for the Class 320 fleet that is also being carried out at Brodie Engineering's Bonnyton Works. ScotRail Engineering Director Syeda Ghufran said: "This extensive overhaul of our fleet of Class 318 trains will greatly enhance the reliability and comfort we already provide customers travelling around the west central Scotland area."
