The lengthy and thorough overhaul of the former WAGN Class 03 03179, the last of its type used on the national network, has progressed well at Rushden with the help of regular working parties - lockdowns permitting. It is hoped 03179 will be somewhere near to moving on the rails in 2021 as its overhaul draws to a conclusion. In late December 2020 more work was undertaken and the cab door was finished and is now ready for priming and top coats. Volunteers are continuing with the 'battle' to get the window back in its frame but the last door window has finally been refitted. Attention will now turn to the last two large inside window frames in readiness for fitting.
