EMR finally goes red

AFTER A delay of several months, the first former LNER HST set finally entered traffic with East Midlands Railway on May 4. Formed of 43316 and 43320 along with NL51 (41120, 41150, 40748, 42091, 42146, 42150, 42154, 44094), the set worked 1C15 0519 Leeds-St Pancras and 1F63 1819 St Pancras-Sheffield, having spent the day stabled at Cricklewood. Thereafter, it was in traffic reasonably regularly. While no more red sets had appeared in traffic by mid-May, power cars 43238 and 43318 were deployed from May 8 working with existing EMR trailer set NL04.
