DRS launches Inverness Tesco-Stobart intermodal

Direct Rail Services (DRS) has launched a second intermodal service for Eddie Stobart Limited and Tesco, with a five-year contract for a dedicated service between Grangemouth and Inverness. The train runs six days a week utilising 45ft curtain-sided containers gauged to travel on any Network Rail line. It is hoped to remove 13,000 lorry journeys each year from the congested A9 to Inverness -saving of 2,610 tonnes of CO2 a year. Class 66s will haul the trains.
