Deutsche Bahn acquires Chiltern Railways

German rail operator Deutsche Bahn (DB) has acquired Laing Rail, owner of Chiltern Railways and joint owners of London Overground Rail and Wrexham, Shropshire and Marylebone Railway.The deal remains subject to approval from the DfT, Transport for London and the Office of Rail Regulation. Chiltern Railways will become part of DB Regio AG, the division of DB responsible for regional and local services.The announcement ends months of speculation over DB's entry into the UK passenger rail market.
