Malahide Viaduct reopened on November 16, almost three months after two 52ft spans collapsed into the estuary after the supporting pier failed on August 21. The Railway Safety Commission had formally approved the rebuilt viaduct on the previous Friday.rnlarnrod Eireann (IE) spent €4m rebuilding the weir on which the viaduct stands, replacing the damaged bridge spans, and renewing track. The first train over the viaduct operated on November 12 when 208 hauled an empty Enterprise set through the possession to continue onwards to Belfast in order to prepare for the resumption of Enterprise services on the Monday.
