Ark Royal suffers traction motor damage during ELR visit

The Class 50 Alliance's 50035 Ark Royal suffered a traction motor flashover while it was visiting the East Lancashire Railway for its July 1-3 diesel gala along with classmate 50044 Exeter- unveiled in original BR blue. The problems for 50035 occurred at Heywood on the Saturday afternoon. After isolation of the motor and a rotation test being completed, the loco was allowed to continue working back to Bury.
