Pool profile: FPAE, Trainload Petroleum, Eastfield locos

This pool was introduced in February 1989 to replace the FPGE pool which was created in October 1987 for those locos in the Trainload fleet allocated for oil and petroleum work north of the border. While locos were allocated to Eastfield depot in Glasgow, the majority would be working on diagrams from Grangemouth. The FPGE pool comprised only 37s to start with, with 37021/035, 37102/113/118/151/184/188/191 -nearly all ex-West Highland steam heat locos, now with their boilers isolated after replacement by ETH Class 37/4s. Other locos were added to the pool - especially as some of the 37s were sent to Crewe for refurbishment. 47003/017/018 joined the fleet in February 1988, although only lasted a few weeks.
