The Great Central Railway ran a two-day diesel gala on March 29/30 with visiting Deltic D9016 Gordon Highlander taking star billing. However it failed with an oil issue on the first day and only worked a handful of trains, missing out on its beerex runs which were covered by 37198 Chief Engineer. The Saturday saw several trains cancelled due to late running. D6535 did not make its anticipated return to traffic havingfailed with a brake issue after backing onto the stock to bring up the rear of the 1000 Loughborough-Rothley so the train was worked as booked by D5401 and D123 had to take up the tail engine position.
