The Ordsall Chord project in Manchester looks set to be delayed further following a legal challenge to the Secretary of State's March decision to grant a Transport & Works Act Order for the scheme. The challenge, which will be heard at the High Court in September, is being made by Mark Whitby, former president of the Institution of Civil Engineers and an objector at the 2014 public enquiry. His objection majors on the impact the construction will have on the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) and the fact that the proposed route will bisect the route of the original Manchester-Liverpool railway.
