DBS reinstates shunters

DB Schenker's trial to reduce operations with Class 08/09 shunters did not prove entirely successful and the company has been returning locos to traffic as required at some locations. Two further shunters reinstated are 08742 at Margam, which, after transfer south by road from Millerhill has been returned to the WSSC pool, while 08888 is now back in the WSRC pool and in use at Didcot. The shell of RVEL's 08697 was removed from Derby RTC by road and has, as far as can be ascertained, been disposed of by Ward's Recycling at Ilkeston. The loco was withdrawn way back in May 1997. RMS Locotec's 08847 has been moved to East Coast's Bounds Green depot to replace Wabtec's 08596 which has failed.
